CEP 810 Teaching For Understanding With Technology                                            Instructor: Candace Marcotte

Providing a foundation for the MAET program at MSU, this course explored the incorporation of technology into learning in meaningful ways. Topics such as examing and expanding one's professional learning network, learning the fundmantals behind TPACK, and exploring my own learning and understanding were addressed. Creating an online presence in the shape of a personal blog was the biggest takeaway from this class and inspired to me to make my work more transparent and encourge my students to do the same.

CEP 811 Adapting Innovative Technology To Education                 Instructors: Bill Marshland and Missy McCarthy

With the concept of repurposing as the driving force for the course, various technologies and ideas were explored. Topics such as the maker culture, educational design, and exploring the professional practice of conference proposals were explored. The biggest thing I took away from this class was the initial desire to create a maker space for my students and just how much the environment in which they are leaning shapes that learning.

CEP 812 Applying Education Technology To Practice                                         Instructor: Sara Beauchamp-Hicks

With critical thinking and problem solving as the basis for the class, the exploration of problems of practice were the main focus. A wicked problem of practice was chosen and explored through a Think Tank and various technologies. The class solidified the use of projects for me as a way of reaching students at their individual learning levels, styles, and passions.

CEP 813 Electronic Portfolios                                                                                  Instructor: Patrick Dickson

Putting the concept of learning by doing into action this class focused on the creation of a professional portfolio over the course of the semester. Collaboration and feedback were valued as each section was worked on over the course of the semester. The use of electronc portfolios made its way into my teaching as I have asked my own students to create portfolios that can travel with them beyond my classroom.

CEP 820 Teaching Students Online                                                                                Instructor: Anne Heintz

With the culminating activity being a working unit for an online course designed for students, this course truly became authentic learning as the unit developed in a full fledged course site with three classes on it. Feedback from peers and the instructor provided valuable insight into course design. The class also afforded me a view into online learning from the perspective of instructor not before experienced.

CEP 800 Learning in Schools And Other Settings                                                    Instructor: Danah Henriksen

With the focus being on several psychological perspectives, the course was designed to provide a true appreciation of learning. Asked to connect these theories with my own learning as a learner, and the contect in which I work and the act of my practice, I was able to find greater meaning and significance to the work I do. This course helped solidy for me that learning goes on in many other contexts and setting besides that of school, and continued me on the path of finding even more meaningful learning for my students.

TE 846 Accomodating Differences In Literacy Learners                                                 Instructor: Dongbo Zhong

With a focus on learning three broad areas of literacy learning, the class provided an in depth look at effective literacy instruction and instructional arrangments that can accomodate different learners. With the focus being on a case study student, learning was authentic and first hand as literacy instruction was put in place in context. The course provided me the chance to focus on my practice with  a critical eye.

CEP 815 Technology And Leadership                                                                             Instructor: Ben Gleason

With a close look at leadership in not just school settings, the course examined issues within technology, learning and leadership. While looking at the implications of technology integration, a problem of practice was fleshed out and examined. In doing so the course allowed me to begin the proposal of a new course I would like to teach next fall that encompasses the learning I have taken away from the MAET program as a whole. It has also inspired me to become a leader in both my school and the district I work in when it comes to technology and curriculum.

CEP 822 Approaches To Educational Research                                                                   Instructor: Tatyana Li

Tasked with finding a researchable problem within education, this course allowed me to look further into the problem of practice identified in an earlier course. Focus was given to analyzing and critiquing published studies, as well as time spent on the practice of descriptive and inferential statistics to gain a better understanding of looking at research in education.

CEP 807 Capstone In Educational Technology                                                           Instructor: Matthew Koehler

As a culminating course in the MAET program, the class centered around the creation of the portfolio you are reading now. Designed to summarize and showcase my skills, projects, and allow for reflection of the program as a whole. It will serve as both a tool and capsule of my learning about technology integration to support my teaching and success as a learner.
